Check out some of my favorite logos, color stories, brand kits, and website design!

Cosimo Wines

Cosimo Wines

This client wanted to have an elevated, yet accessible feel. Brought to the midwest by some worldly Hoosiers, their wines are curated from vineyards in Italy and France and are otherwise only available in Europe.

Because of this, we wanted the brand to feel old world, sophisticated, and cozy.

I ended up choosing a rich palette of deep olive, burgundy, cream, and raisin. Their font kit was just as fun - playing with all caps elegant titles for some personality, and sticking with a font that you might find in leather-bound books in an old library for the body texts.

The brand is named after their adorable dachshund, Cosimo, so it was only fitting that we design the logo with him in mind! In designing the logo, I wanted to have the fun image of the dachshund juxtaposed with the elegant all caps font to give both the elevated and fun feel the client asked for.

It was an adventure designing the signs for their wine racks in stores as well, learning about the wines, and curating copy and “the essentials” for wine lovers to know before buying. We ended up using this copy for both the website and the signs around town. Check them out at liquor stores in Indiana!

Our most important strategic decision was breaking down the various audiences she was looking to reach and creating an intuitive design to guide each of them to the information they needed seamlessly.

She wanted to have as much information as possible catering to each of her audiences in one scrolling page. We solved for this ask by using in page navigation, which I custom coded for her.

She works in technology and wanted to have a brand kit and logo that stuck out. We worked through a few options (starting out with creams and pinks which were not her thing!) and landing on this gorgeous mix of fun and moody greens along with a vibrant yellow and white for grounding. We landed on easy to read and more “pop”y fonts, keeping with the trends in tech websites at the moment. This allows her to stick out with a fun brand kit, and also on trend in her industry.

Blue Collar Artists Studio

Blue Collar Artist Studio

This client felt VERY strongly about having a background as dark as his soul, so naturally we went with all black everything. It was important to give a portfolio feel to showcase the work that my client has done visually, and keep with a mostly black and white theme.

This means that whenever we use color in an image or portrait, the subject really stands out — allowing the most important things to be showcased: the artists and their work.

Using mostly black and white is symbolic in this case as well - my client is a well known actor and broadway producer, so we have a very “lights, camera, action” feel! I personally love the main page as it serves as both portfolio and an invitation to other storytellers to join in on his fabulous projects — his projects have color on the main page — but we kept the services page black and white representing the blank slate the artists will start from as they begin their work with my client.

The logo design for this client was unique as he wanted something simple, futuristic, and symbolic of his company. I went with a contemporary bright blue “collar” representing “Blue Collar Artist Studio” and think it’s fun that if you didn’t know it was a blue collar, the design would still stand out as a unique artistic piece.

Oracle Hospitality Consultants

Oracle Hospitality Consultants (OHC)

Sophistication, wisdom, business transformation. Working with this client to create this brand kit, logo, and website was an incredibly intimate and rewarding journey. My client has over 18 years of experience in her field and decided to build her own consulting business (as a mom with two under two — not all heroes wear capes, but this woman deserves one).

This brand kit needed to represent the brand she is building now, the successful business she will have 5, 10, 20 years from now, and also needed to represent her as a person.

We used her favorite color purple, and played with variations of it from the light and whimsical to the dark and guttural (I’m an artist, I’m allowed to use sounds to describe colors.) to land on a gradient of expression of her essence (okay, fine. sometimes I go too far).

Her logo, the owl, the sacred symbol for wisdom, and also an animal very close to my clients heart, was the obvious choice for her logo. We went with a sassy cartoon owl to give both wisdom and sass.

We are working on a few updates for this site, so look for a new one soon!

Alexandra O’Halloran

Alexandra O’halloran Acting Website

Alexandra asked for a simple website showcasing her headshots, resume, and behind the scenes photography from her latest performance. She put together her headshots and resume, and gave me a description of the feel she was going for, and this is what we ended up with.

I love the soft brown and grey tones for her site because it gives a warm feel, and allows her most recent headshots to shine. The color scheme was born out of the that Alexandra and her photographer created in their shoot, and lends a soft contrast to the pictures, allowing her to be the star of the site.

My favorite feature on this website is the picture of Alexandra on the main page with no background. I touched up her photo and removed the background to make her really stand out. This draws the viewer to take her in before moving to the information on the site, which is also easily accessible. Also, could she be any more gorgeous if she tried?!

Cumarsaid Group

Cumarsaid Group

This client wanted a mix of a professional website and personal portfolio featuring his award winning photos, novel, and articles in addition to the services his public relations business offers.

He already had a logo that he loved, so we took the colors and font from his logo, and strategized on how to break his work into pages to make it easy to navigate for the viewer.

We decided to utilize his homepage as a brief introduction to the meaning of his company name and what it means to him, allowing for both the personal and professional sides of him to shine through. We then broke his personal interests and professional services down into separate sections (services, writing, photography), and created a brief introduction to each on the homepage with a button leading to their individual pages. I then built him a portfolio for his photos, which he can add to at any time, organized his writing into sections for his novels, columns, and articles, and went about finding appropriate photos for each.

I love the photo he chose for his contact section: Murphy’s pub in Ireland. My clients last name is Murphy, and his Irish heritage is incredibly important to him, so this was a very fun way to integrate that into his site - who said this couldn’t be fun?!
